Google entered the mobile phone market with the first operating system, Android. The first mobile phone that supports Android is the HTC Dream, was released on October 22, 2008. Google's main goal is to build an operating system that is user friendly and more modified than the famous iPhone Operating System, which won a large share in the mobile market, even with a secure operating environment.
Android is the operating system that aims not just customers every day looking for a phone based on ease of use, but also developers who are worried on the iPhone operating system is guaranteed coding. Google Android is a fully Open Sourced operating system, which can be modified from the root directory itself. Google has given an option for developers to access the root directory of the phone, which opens a variety of options to further develop the phone, since you know the language. Google aims to grab phone market for a long time, but with the iPhone was released, the number of options on the market already saturated from a touchscreen phone is limited. Consequently Android majorly aimed at developers, who can not practice their skills and enhance their own operating system in the iPhone OS or Windows.
Android supports connectivity technologies including GSM / EDGE, iDEN, CDMA, EV-DO, UMTS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX. Android supports audio / video follows / still media formats: H.263, H.264 (in 3GP or MP4 container), MPEG-4 SP, AMR, AMR-WB (in 3GP container), AAC, HE-AAC (in MP4 containers or 3GP), MP3, MIDI, Ogg Vorbis, WAV, JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP.
Android also supports Multi-Touch, which was introduced on the HTC Hero first, but stopped considering Apple's patent infringement. As Nexus One and Droid present natively support multi-touch.
Recently surpassed sales of Android to the iPhone, but statistics can be very misleading. Apple continues to lead in the most important statistics - revenue and profit. Apple has recently reported a 90 percent increase in profits during the same quarter a year ago, and that was before launch and sold more than one million iPads.
Now with the introduction of the iPhone OS 4 and the iPhone 4G, we need to wait and see what Google has in mind, to go beyond what Apple Inc. proposes the best phones on the market. And history speaks for itself, Google is very much capable of bringing better phone to market.
